Xiami’s Viomi releases a series of new smart home products

On October 29, Viomi released several smart home products: refrigerators, routers, and switches.

The first core product is a refrigerator equipped with a 21-inch screen. According to the press conference, this product is aimed at the middle-aged and elderly age group who cannot see the screen clearly while using Douyin. Users of this product will be able to use Douyin while cooking; the large screen also houses built-in recipes, entertainment contents, users can even use the refrigerator to read the news, shop online, etc.

In addition, Viomi also released a seaLink 5G Fixed WiFi6 router and HomePad Viomi 5GIoT super switch. The Viomi seaLink 5G Fixed WiFi6 router is equipped with a Qualcomm chip and supports WiFi6 network technology. This router allows over 200 devices to be connected to it at the same time, multiple versions start at the low price of $57 USD; the HomePad super switch is a platform that can achieve interactive control of the whole house, it supports voice control and the adjustment between multiple scenarios.

Founded in 2014, Viomi is a smart home appliance R&D company located in Shenzhen. It has long been committed to the innovation of smart home solutions. It is another Xiaomi ecological chain company after Huami.

Viomi was always characterized by a “light” production and sales model, which saves large capital expenditures, and most of the saved funds are in turn reinvested into research and development.

According to Zhitong Finance, the company’s R&D expenses have a compound growth rate of 83.32% from 2017 to 2019. In Q12020 the growth rate was 62.2%, the R&D expenses rate was 7.7%, showing an increase of 3.29 percentage points from 2019.
