Tencent launches new strategic partnership with CATL
On July 16, CATL and Tencent Cloud signed a strategic agreement, strengthening in-depth collaborations in the field of AI technology research and development, result transformation, and talent training to jointly build the “CATL-Tencent Cloud AI Joint Innovation Base.”
According to the agreement, Tencent Cloud will provide infrastructures such as data centers, private clouds, and AI algorithm platforms for the innovation base. At the same time, with the technical advantage of Tencent Youtu Lab in the field of computer vision, the two parties will focus on AI technology, tackling a series of world-class problems in the field of new energy quality inspection. Tencent Cloud will provide CATL with assistance to improve research and development efficiency and accelerate the reserve of electric battery technology capabilities.

CATL proposed the concept of “Extreme Manufacturing”, planning to introduce AI, big data, and cloud computing technologies to all aspects of the production and manufacturing portion of new energy vehicle batteries, using technological and management innovations to improve product quality, production efficiency, and reduce Defect rate, promoting safety while realizing the increase of productivity.
It is understood that Tencent currently houses over 6,500 AI patents worldwide, with more than 800 essays included in top international AI conferences.
