At the Beijing International Information and Communication Exhibition on September 27, Chaobin Yang, president of Huawei’s wireless product line, released the innovative Massive MIMO product MetaAAU.

MetaAAU introduces the ultra-large-scale antenna array technology, achieving both performance and energy-saving improvements through the algorithm, architecture, software, and hardware integration innovations, opening a new direction for Massive MIMO.

As mentioned in related reports, how to increase coverage and capacity to continuously reduce network bit costs and reduce bit energy consumption is the driving force behind Massive MIMO’s continuous innovation.

Tests show that compared to the traditional solutions, MetaAAU can increase 30% uplink coverage and 30% downlink coverage of the cell at the same time, and the average experience of edge users can be increased by 25%.

Under the condition that the cell edge coverage index remains unchanged, the base station can be configured with lower transmission power, thereby reducing the energy consumption of the base station. Compared with the traditional AAU, energy consumption is reduced by about 30%.

Chaobin Yang, President of Huawei’s wireless product line, emphasized in his speech: “Huawei will not stop its pace of innovation, continual innovation, and consolidating the continuous coverage of the wide-pipe infrastructure network; facing the future of 5.5G, continual evolution in the field of major uplink, mass connections, precise positioning, etc. enhancement of network capabilities, and contribute to China’s continued leadership in 5G.”

According to Gartner’s 2020 study, Huawei Cloud is the fastest growing cloud in the IaaS market and has grown to become China’s second and global top 5 cloud service provider.
