Honor to relaunch partnership with Google
Recently, Honor is looking for opportunities to restart in the overseas markets. Resuming cooperation with Google has become its overseas market goal this year.
Although Android has long been open-sourced, Google Mobile Services (GMS) still needs to obtain authorization. GMS mainly includes star-rated apps such as Google Map, GMAIL, YouTube, Chrome, and the app store Google Play.
At the beginning of this year, Honor officially stated that it was in negotiations with Google, hoping to resume its cooperative relationship with Google. A few months ago, it was reported that Honor has been undergoing Google’s security review and compatibility testing to ensure that GMS applications (including Google Play, Google Maps, YouTube, Gmail, etc.) can run on Honor devices.
“Honor’s overseas market share has almost fallen to 0.” In an interview in mid-August, Honor CEO Zhao Ming told a reporter from China Business News that the focus of this year’s overseas market is “recovery”, including the restoration of operations, channels, and retail capabilities. Zhao Ming said that the out-of-stock period is longer in the overseas market than the Chinese domestic market.
Currently, Honor has gradually resumed business operations in over 50 countries around the world. More products will be launched in the future, and mobile phones and tablets will also support Google’s GMS.
