Geely to release green heavy truck to expand the EV market in China
At the Transfar Group Supply Chain Conference on September 23rd, Shufu Li delivered a keynote speech on “Creating Smart Interconnection and Leading Green Commercial-use: China Commercial Vehicles Exploring the Innovation and Development of Smart Green Transport Capacity”.
In his speech, Shufu Li revealed that Geely Long-distance Automobile will release a conceptual heavy-truck this year, in support of pure electric vehicles (including battery exchange), extended-range hybrid, methanol, and other new energy power forms.
The luxury driving cockpit will provide users with an RV-like experience through automatic driving technology.
Shufu Li said, “The global automotive industry reformation has allotted a time-window for the adjustment of the automotive industry chain and the expansion of the ecosystem, building new tracks for the future.”
In 2014, Geely used its R&D capabilities as its forerunner and its business model as the foundation. It launched the development of a new generation of commercial vehicles, as it focuses on the green intelligent commercial vehicle ecology, becoming the first commercial vehicle company in China to focus on new energy vehicles.
In 2016, Geely Commercial Vehicle Group was established and launched the new energy commercial vehicle brand YuanCheng Automobile. Subsequently, successively invested in the Volvo Truck Group (AB Volvo) and Daimler Group, further perfecting the layout of its global passenger vehicle business.
The development of Geely Commercial Vehicles has made it the largest new energy commercial vehicle research institute in China. With the nearly 2,000 R&D engineers it accumulated, it formed two major technical routes of highway commercial vehicles.
The city commercial vehicular system with pure electric engines and extended range power system at its core, and the Highway commercial vehicle system with methanol M100 clean energy and battery swapping technology as its core. With products covering the entire series of commercial vehicles such as heavy trucks, light trucks, small and micro trucks, vans, and passenger cars.
