Counterpoint: Unisoc grows fast in smartphone AP market
According to Counterpoint, Unisoc’s smartphone application processor (AP) market share in Q2 reached 8.4% in the global smartphone market.
Previously in 2018 and 2019, Unisoc was classified in the “others” category in Counterpoint’s statistics; after being counted separately in 2020, Unisoc accounted for 4% in the City market and has doubled by the second quarter of 2021.
In the first half of 2021, Unisoc’s smartphone application processor (AP) shipments increased by 122% compared to the first half of 2020. In the second quarter of 2021, Unisoc ranked fourth in the market with a share of 8.4%, and third in the open market (excluding Apple).
Analyst Parv Sharma commented, “This year, Unisoc successfully expanded its customer base and won orders from major OEMs such as Honor, Realme, and Motorola. In the Chinese domestic market, Unisoc T610 and T740 have been successfully adopted by ZTE, Hisense, and Honor. The increase in Chinese consumers’ acceptance of their products is a sign of their performance growth in the second half of the year.”
In addition, Unisoc has been a key partner of operators and local brands in growing markets such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia, and the latter has contributed a large share to Unisoc’s chip shipments. Without surprises, this growth momentum will continue into 2022.
