China’s Smart Home Industry advances efficiently
After 20 plus years of development, the smart home project has now entered the 4.0 stage.
At the recent Shanghai International Smart Home Show, smart homes fully empowered by 5G and AIoT shone brightly.
Currently, the application of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and robotics is moving from concepts to smart home realities.
So far, the industry has reported that companies such as Sunway Automotive, LOCK&LOCK, Hengten Networks Group have cross-border into smart homes, not to mention technological giants like Huawei, Xiaomi, and home appliance giant Haier have continues to increase their focus on smart homes, branding the industry with a new trend for rapid growth.
In terms of the smart home development strategy, Huawei adopts a simple plan of development: outsourcing most works to the professionals in the respective fields through Huawei HiLink, and focus only on the core of technology empowerment;
Xiaomi, as a pioneer in the industry, focuses on building an ecosystem that connects multiple smart devices in the home through one single hardware product, controlling the entrance of the smart home that way;
Haier emphasizes on utilizing the user experience of the customer in different daily life-like scenarios.
China’s smart home shipments and market scale have grown rapidly. According to the IDC report, China’s smart home market has shipped 156 million units in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 36.7%.
In 2019, China’s smart home market shipments surpassed the 200 million mark, reaching 208 million units, an increase of 33.5% compared to 2018.
In 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the growth rate of smart home shipments in China will slow down, and it is expected to increase by 3% year-on-year to 215 million units.
In addition, according to data released by iiMedia Research, the market size of China’s smart home in 2019 was $22.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26.45%. It is expected that the size of China’s smart home market will reach $27 billion in 2020.
