Xinsheng Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Group (CMCG), officially started its independent operation recently and plans to attract attention as it enters the IoT chips field in the future.

As early as 2015, China Mobile has entered the field of IoT chips officially. China Mobile Internet of Things Integrated Circuit Innovation Center has been involved in the field of IoT chips since its establishment in 2017 and has gradually transitioned to the independent research and development of core chips with agency and customized research and development.

By now, China Mobile has developed several narrowband cellular communications and MCU chips based on domestic RISC-V cores.

After nearly 5 years of chip research, chip development, and market exploration, China Mobile officially entered the field of IoT chips by launching its own brand of IoT eSIM chips — -OneChip in November 2019.

According to GSMA’s forecast, the number of IoT connections in China will reach 8.01 billion by 2025, with an average annual compound growth rate of 14.1%.

According to Valuates, the global Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) market is expected to grow from $992 million USD in 2019 to $31 billion USD by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 64.2%.
