Bilibili partners with BBC on content development

This week, Bilibili and BBC Studios jointly announced a long-term strategic collaboration.

The two will jointly produce documentaries while developing derivative IP. According to the agreement, Bilibili will co-produce “The Green Planet” and other documentaries with BBC. “The Green Planet” is another BBC Masterpiece after “Planet Earth 2” and “Blue Planet 2.” Bilibili will also launch the BBC sci-fi novel adapted drama series “Discworld” exclusively.

As Chinese-related stories become more and more attractive to overseas markets, the demands for high-quality content from Chinese users are becoming increasingly diverse.

Under that situation, Bilibili and BBC promised to strengthen their partnership through commissioning new content and jointly co-develop a unique content ecosystem for the Chinese market.

Currently, Bilibili has become one of the largest documentary producers and broadcast platforms in China.

In recent years, Bilibili has established long-term stable co-operations with CCTV, BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, NHK, ARTE, and many other top domestic and international labels, and launched many reputable works jointly.
